The Challenge

The App needed to be accessible to both Android and iOS users, and in order to generate revenue the owners at Rayne wanted the app to display Amazon Ads. The client wanted a quick turnaround, and with our experience in App building, we set about looking into the best development tool to build the app.

What we did

We chose PhoneGap to develop the App as it allows for fast and efficient App creation. Our developers used PhoneGap’s built-in APIs to easily allow users to take and upload photos. In order for our client to generate revenue from the App we integrated the Amazon Ads plugin to display ads.

The main benefit of using PhoneGap to build the App is that it allows for quick development over multiple devices. The development tool requires the app to be built just once before submitting to all platforms – iPhone, Android and Windows Phone – removing the need to build multiple times for the Native programming language of each platform. What was really impressive is that we delivered the finished App to the client in less than one month!

With PhoneGap there are a wide range of pre-existing plugins available to bring in everything from mobile advertising to barcode scanning, which makes it easier and faster to develop and deploy. So it’s not only time-effective but cost-effective too.

Those who download the app have the opportunity to find and chat to their doppelgänger from anywhere in the world!
