Magento M1 stopped being supported for security updates in June 2020, making it essential for users to migrate to Magento M2 in order to continue to provide exceptional transactional experiences for their customers and to maintain their PCI compliance.. Crown French needed to migrate their existing furniture retail site from M1 to M2.

From enhancing the design and replicating the M1 module functionality to migrating product dataand ensuring a minimal impact on SEO, there were many challenges to overcome to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

The Conclusion

Understanding the relationship the sales team have with their customers was key to the project success. We ensured these well proven processes were carried through to the M2 admin - The design was initially taken from a pre-existing theme in order reduce the budget, but we adapted this to reflect the clients brand identity and also undertook bespoke development on the Product Detail Page to add cross sells and upsells and a contact form.

The resulting design was both familiar to frequent visitors while welcoming to new ones; we also took the opportunity to add new features such as Instagram scroll, product carousel, a new payment gateway, advanced shipping and accounts integration.
